The Gray Havens of Septentria: Swan’s Keep

Written for Geographica Septentria.

Jutting out into Lacus Pentamerus is the peninsula of Swan’s Keep. The youngest of the cantons in Septentria, it was founded around May 2003. The land was formerly part of the Canton of Caer Draeth which lies to the south-east. Originally known as Swan’s Deep the group takes it’s name from Helm’s Deep in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings saga. ‘Helm’ was replaced with ‘Swan’ as the harbours in the area are home to large groups of the floating avians.

Rumours circulate that it was from these lands that the Elves left our kingdom upon the decree of Queen Caitlin I back in AS 16.

To date the canton has been relatively quiet, except for the sounds of construction as foundations are laid for the future.
